We started our trip in Kuching, the capital of Sarawalk: a place to acclimate ourselves to the temperature and humidity (something we never really were able to do!) and an appropriate starting point for a day trip to Bako National Park.

Bako was our destination as potentially the best location from which to see proboscis monkeys. Bako is at the end of a peninsula but effectively can only be reached by water. It was our first stop into the realm of the nature and wildlife of Borneo.
