One of my favorites: stick insect from Borneo. This had been pointed out by our guide, and I had duly taken a picture.
Months later I was showing the Borneo pictures to my son and his family, when Mitchell astutely pointed out that there were two stick insects, mating. The red one that I had seen, and the brown 'stick' on which it was perched!
